Benefits of a Warmzone Heated Driveway System

Warmzone heated driveway systems are fully automated and maintenance free. The systems activate only when needed to keep your walks, steps, or driveway clear of snow and ice all winter long.

When you work with Warmzone, you team with a partner that will stand with you before, during, and after the installation process. Warmzone has set the industry standard for customer support services, which include free installation training, tech support, and complete system design services. Installers will know all the details prior to any installation taking place. The system design not only includes the proper layout and materials, but also identifies the proper load calculations, breaker sizes, number of breakers, and so forth. Electricians and installers will have all the information necessary to begin the installation with confidence.

Easy to Install

Radiant heat systems are surprisingly easy to install. Homeowners can do much of the labor for installing the system, including clearing and preparing the driveway, as well as laying out the remesh and securing the heat cable. However, it is vital that a licensed electrician wire the system. (Connect the cold leads to the contactor panel as well as wire the snow sensor.) Having a qualified electrician connect the wiring and filling out the warranty card ensures that the warranty remains valid.

Installation Support

Warmzone’s years of expertise are available to you during the installation. If your installers or electrician have questions at any point during the installation, they can contact Warmzone support. We have a dedicated support staff on hand to field your calls and assist you as needed.

Free Installation Training

As an industry leader, Warmzone provides free installation training for installers. Installers can take a course in person or online via video conference that covers all the aspects of their specific installation. The training course usually takes less than an hour to complete, but you can stop and ask questions anytime.

Enhances Safety

In addition to eliminating the need for manual snow removal, automated driveway heating systems also enhance safety by eliminating slick surfaces associated with snow and ice - as well as the physical demands associated with salting and shoveling snow. The systems not only keep areas clear of snow during winter storms, but the “afterrun” function keeps the system on for a few minutes after it has stopped snowing to dry the surface of the driveway and prevent dangerous black ice from forming.

Maintenance Free

Warmzone’s electric heated driveway systems have no moving parts, so they are virtually maintenance free. With the exception of occasionally wiping down the small snow sensor grid, you don't ever have to worry about costly or inconvenient monthly maintenance issues. Once the system is installed, you can leave it on "automatic" mode and never have to worry about it. Electric snowmelt systems also require no special mechanical room like hydronic systems. Only a small contactor panel is mounted in the garage.

Energy Efficient

Radiant heat systems are very energy efficient. There is almost no heat loss, as about 99 percent of the energy goes directly to heating the driveway surface.

Low Operational Costs (Minimal Operation Time)

Electric heated driveways feature rapid response times, and they typically do not have to operate for long periods - keeping costs to a minimum. The automated system works only when needed, but the system can also be turned on manually if needed.

Fully Automated

Warmzone’s radiant snow melting systems are fully automated. The system relies on an advanced snow sensor, contactor panel, and ClearZone® heating cable. The aerial (or pavement-mounted snow sensor) detects precipitation as well as temperature. If precipitation is detected and the temperature is below the adjustable set point (typically set at 38 or 39 degrees Fahrenheit), the sensor sends a signal to the master controller. Power is then sent to the ClearZone heat-resistance cable embedded in the driveway.

The system activates only when needed. The driveway warms just as the snowstorm hits and then shuts off afterwards. However, after the storm abates, the system remains on for a short time to dry the driveway so that the wet surface does not turn into a thin sheet of ice. The activation device also features manual override capability so the system can be turned on to melt ice that may have formed due to wind or runoff.

Easy on the Environment

Warmzone radiant heat systems operate cleanly and silently, on renewable energy. Radiant heated driveways eliminate the need for salt and other snow melting chemicals that are harmful to the environment, resulting in hazardous runoff that can destroy surrounding grass and vegetation. Radiant heat is clean, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

Smart Long Term Investment

Installing a radiant heated driveway and/or walks can be an excellent long term investment in your home that can increase the resale value of your property. An electric snow melting system can also increase the lifespan of your driveway by eliminating the need for corrosive snowmelt chemicals, plowing, and manual snow removal.

Comprehensive Customer Support

We understand that the key to top performing radiant heat systems is that they are properly installed. That's why Warmzone includes free installation training and technical support. The installation training covers all aspects of the project to help ensure the system is installed correctly and the customer is satisfied.
